I am interested in at least trying out for a tournament team. I have experience, money, time, and a decent marker. Is there any hope for this happening in the Tallahassee area? I'm willing to drive a half hour or so to practice. Any teams practicing at Black Water Paintball Park still? Anyone else interested in coming together to create one?

Welcome to the forum Deadline :)
Plenty of players talk about a team, and I would love to have or more at the field. It will be interesting to see what happens here.

Okay, so, realistically what league would a team in this area be practicing for? PSP? Do you guys have a good field for tourney practices right now?

*Thanks for the welcome, sorry I can be kindof abrupt*

Okay, I'll be looking. If we form a team, what league would we play in? Does anyone have any local tournament experience?

we would more than likely be playing in d4 or d3 however the only big tournament we would be able to afford is CFPS down in lakecity. my guess is that there are between 4 and 8 teams in north florida and south georgia that are playing at other fields. if we get a team together we can invite some of the other teams to practice agaisnt to determine how we would play in real tournaments.

I don't know where you guys would be driving from but the GFOA is a great 5-man series. the closest events are in macon at On Target Paintball and farthest are in Dallas, GA at Old South Paintball. The have had about 16-17 teams in begginer(D5), 7-10 rookie(D4), and 7-10 open(D3+).

That sounds good. Lake City is about 100 miles away. Unfortunately, Pavo (mmmrican, GFOA) is about 200 miles away so that makes GFOA a little less attractive. That same drive gets us to Orlando and Tampa from Tallahassee.

I didn't realize how far it was. The only team I could find when I was looking was in macon so I drive about 125 miles for practice so distance doesn't click with me anymore. When I get some time off of practice and tournies I would like to come out sometime to see how the tourny scene is there Its a lot closer to me than Macon. I also might try to get my team to come down from Macon. I need a break from that drive.

This really IS paintball hell. There's like a Bermuda Triangle of North Central Florida and South Central Georgia where there are very few fields, teams, and players. Speaking of which, I heard TPP has re-opened? Can anyone verify that? The last time I went, before I heard they closed, it was pretty sloppy to be honest. No chrono out before I asked if I could take it out, no real reffing, and not a lot of people. No disrespect to the people who were/are running it, I liked them... Things were likely just winding down at the time.

TPP is "open" you have to call ahead and make a deposite before he opens the feild. even though its in tallahassee you would save more money and time by driving up the blackwater than playing there. plus its not very good and its still sloppy.

i very much agree about the tournament hell located in this area, having played here for awhile i know that there are a good number of tournament players in north central florida and south central georgia but they all play at different fields and drive about 50-100 miles to go to them.

if we can get a team together here at blackwater we can begin to invite other teams and hopefully they may find that blackwater is closer than their other field.

It has not always been this bad when i started there was Valdosta Paintball in Valdosta, one in Tifton, and AWOL in Pavo. I could play at any of 3 fields with in 45 mins of my house. After I quit while i ajusted to college life and they all shut down. I spent close to six months looking for somewhere to play and gave in and stared the drive to Macon. Now to get any real action I have to drive to Macon or Jax. I really hope i get a chance to come out and play and it works out.

i would probably be interested in playin on a team. i played out of low country paintball for about 4 or 5 years, but i moved to valdosta to attend school at VSU. as for CFPS if you are talking about central florida paintball series it is not in lakecity. it is in lakeland florida which is down by tampa. it is at CFP which is were the SPCS was played last year, but it moved to orland. CFPS and SPCS are the only two tournament series around here that i know of besides PSP GFOA and CFOA

I play in Jacksonville and i live in Valdosta. I played at AWOL. We have a solid group of guys there. This field has good chance to be a hub for scrimmages. I would like to come between practices with my team.
The SPCS is a really good series to play at a decent drive. It is Orlando though.
